Steps to create your ad
STAGE 1: PLANNING
Step 1: Plan Before you start filming, your group needs to fill in the “Advertisement Plan” sheet and have it approved by your teacher. You must include information on: -what is the purpose of your ad? - who is your target audience? - what is the message you want to convey?
Step 2: Storyboard You will need to use the storyboard template to plan your advertisement. Your storyboard should include information on the film techniques and persuasive devices for each shot in the ad. You must submit your storyboard to your teacher for approval before you can start filming.
When you choose camera shots, angles, sound, lighting, costume etc. think about the effect you want to create.
You will need to plan your locations, casting, props, costumes and develop a shoot timetable. You must provide your own props and costumes – you will not be able to borrow items from the school for this project.
Step 3: Script You will need to develop a script for your advertisement which includes all the stage directions, dialogue and other audio (such as voice-overs, sound, music). Your teacher must sight this before you begin filming
STAGE 2: FILMING
Step 1: Filming You can may use any device you like to film your advertisement (iPhone, flip camera, iPad etc.) You will have some time in class to film your ad.
You may use iMovie or other software to put your advertisement together; however you must ensure that the format you use can be played on your iPad and uploaded to eLocker.
Step 2:Editing Once you have filmed your advertisement you will need to edit it. You may wish to add music, logos, voice overs or other special effects to your footage. You must ensure your ad is no longer than 90 seconds long.
Step 3:Checking When your ad is complete, view it several times over to ensure your sound is correct and that it displays correctly on the screen when played. Make sure the group is happy with the final version before you submit it.
